What is Thornguard?
Thornguard is a tower defense roguelike. Before each run, you choose a prophecy — a themed challenge track that shapes the enemies you'll face. Build elemental towers, draft abilities, collect relics, and earn titles as you climb difficulty levels.
What are prophecies?
Prophecies are 9 themed challenge tracks that define each run. Four are elemental (Fire, Frost, Lightning, Thorn), four are tactical (ranged, swarm, tank, mixed), and one is a wildcard. Each prophecy has 6 difficulty levels with a signature mechanic that intensifies as you climb. Beat a level, earn a title.
How does the element system work?
There are four elements: Fire, Frost, Lightning, and Thorn. Fire beats Frost, Frost beats Lightning, Lightning beats Fire — each dealing bonus damage against its weak element. Thorn is neutral with no weakness in the triangle and a small versatility bonus.
What are abilities?
Abilities are active powers you collect during a run. They cycle through a queue system — draft them, wait for recharge, then activate from your two ability slots. Each ability has a branching upgrade tree from L1 through L3 with specialization choices at each tier.
What are relics?
Relics are passive bonuses you pick after each wave — choose one of three. They come in four rarities: Common, Uncommon, Rare, and Legendary. Over 60 relics can appear, and they stack and synergize to define your build strategy.
How do boss waves work?
Boss enemies appear periodically with unique mechanics — summoning minions, shifting lanes, shielding themselves, draining your towers. Defeating a boss grants bonus gold.
Does the app require an internet connection?
No. Thornguard works entirely offline. All game content is bundled with the app. No accounts, no cloud sync, no internet needed.
Where is my progress stored?
All run history, unlocks, and settings are stored locally on your device in a SQLite database. Nothing is sent to any server.
How do I reset my progress?
You can reset all progress from the Settings screen within the app. Alternatively, uninstalling the app removes all data.
What platforms is Thornguard available on?
Thornguard is available on iOS, macOS, and Android.
